Quite simply, when you are betting on the Money Line, you are betting on the team that you think will win a given BBL match - there is no handicap.  Favorites and underdogs are determined solely by the odds pricing. 

BBL Odds expressed in American, Decimal and Fractional Formats

For American odds format, note the difference between positive and negative expressions.  Both use the figure of $100, but in different ways.  When a negative number, the odds are below even-money and the odds express how much one must wager in order to return a profit of $100.  For example, if the Perth Scorchers are favoured heavily, you might see a figure of -270.  This means you would need to wager $270 for a potential profit of $100 and a total potential return of $370.  When you see a positive BBL odds price in American format such as +180, this expresses how much potential profit you will gain when you wager $100.  At +180 on the Melbourne Renegades, a winning bet of $100 would return your stake plus $180 in profit for a total return of $280. 

For the Decimal odds format on the BBL, you simply multiply your stake amount by the decimal odds price to see the full amount that would be returned on a win, including your stake amount.  For example, if you wagered $100 at a price of 1.62 on the Sydney Thunder, your total potential return would be $162, a profit of $62. 

For Fractional odds format, the odds express the potential profit.  For example, if you bet $100 at an odds price of 4/7 (four-to-seven), the potential profit would be $57.14 (4 divided by 7, multiplied by $100). You would also receive the returned $100 stake for a total return of $157.14.  In the case of underdogs where odds are above even-money, the numerator will be higher than the denominator.  An example of this would be odds such as 39/20 (said thirty-nine-to-twenty) on the Brisbane Heat.  With a stake of $100, your profit figure would come when you multiply the fraction by the stake such as 39/20 X $100.  Thus your potential profit would be $195.  Including your stake of $100, your total potential return would be $295.
